EV's and Espresso April 2023

We're charged up!

Today's EV's and Espresso was particularly different from anything we've hosted before. It involved donuts and coffee (not a surprise) and two separate drive options, one of them off-road!

The weather was absolutely perfect, views stunning and conversations convivial.

  1. Meet-up at Rainbow Donuts in Fountain Hills.

  2. (7) vehicles (10 people) drive to Payson for lunch.

  3. (4) Rivian R1T's (8 people) drive over Four Peaks, top elevation of the Forest Road around 5,800 ft.

One of our goals today was to show the capability of electric trucks. (4) Rivian R1T's powered over the mountain and down the other side, demonstrating how EASY it is to off-road with an EV (2 trucks completed the round-trip traversal, the other 2 had time constraints and returned via road travel).

Near the summit, riders stretched and enjoyed a picnic meal, while soaking in the never-ending sunshine and panaromic views of the surrounding Roosevelt Lake and valleys.

A Bolt EUV drove from Mesa to Fountain Hills to Payson and back, without needing to charge. About 160 miles were driven, arriving with 97 miles of range left. This was a good "case study" on how even an "entry-level" electric vehicle is capable of longer distance road travel.

At the meet-up, we had 16 vehicles attend:

Kia EV6

Rivan R1S

Lucid Air

(2) Chevrolet Bolt EUV

(2) Chevrolet Bolt

(5) Rivian R1T

(2) Tesla Model 3

(2) Ford Mustang Mach-E GT

Keep an eye out - we will have more off-roading adventures in the near future!
