What We Do

The Valley of the Sun Electric Vehicle Association connects people, communities, and ideas to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). We provide lifelong learning opportunities for anyone curious about EVs — from first-time shoppers to long-time owners — and serve as a trusted resource for cities, businesses, schools, and other organizations.

We host monthly events, participate in partner activities, and share resources through our website, monthly newsletter, direct emails, and social media to keep our members and the public informed and engaged.

Types of Events

Rallies Held monthly on weekends (usually Saturday mornings), our rallies take place at coffee shops, EV charging stations, or a sponsor/partner location — coffee provided! These gatherings are social and welcoming, offering a chance to meet other members, see new EVs, and bring friends who may be considering making the switch. Often, the rally is followed by an optional group drive to a local point of interest. Register for these events on our Calendar under WATTS HAPPENING.

Ride & Drives combine static displays with the opportunity to experience an EV firsthand — either as a passenger or as the driver (with the owner in the passenger seat). Drives follow safe, established routes (often a 4-right-turn pattern with no highways) and comply with all traffic laws and safety protocols. Drivers’ license and insurance information is collected before driving.

National Ride & Drive Events As part of the Electric Vehicle Association, we host national events like Drive Electric Earth Month (DEEM) in April and National Drive Electric Month (NDEM) in September/October, in partnership with Plug In America, DRIVE Electric USA, the Sierra Club, and other sponsors. These larger Ride & Drives bring together the community, EV owners, and local partners to showcase the latest in electric transportation.. Check our Calendar for this year’s DEEM and NDEM events and sign up to attend or volunteer.

Partner Events We participate in events organized by nonprofit partners, usually featuring static EV displays and opportunities for conversation about ownership and technology.

Sponsor Events Our paid sponsors and municipal partners sometimes host events that may include static displays, Ride & Drives, or both — offering another way to connect with the community and share EV experiences. Some of these events are private for the sponsor’ employees.

School Events We partner with local high schools and colleges to host educational EV events, which may include static displays, Ride & Drives, or classroom presentations — inspiring the next generation of EV drivers and advocates.
