What We Do

We provide lifelong learning opportunities and community connections to those interested in EVs.

We hold monthly events to educate those who are curious about or shopping for EVs, and as a resource for cities, businesses, schools, and other organizations.

We communicate regularly with our members through our website, a monthly newsletter, direct email, and social media.

Types of Events

Rallies are held monthly on weekends (usually Saturday mornings) either at a coffee shop, an EV charging station, or a sponsor or partner’s place of business with coffee provided. Although these events are more social (a good time to meet with other members and meet new members with new EVs in the group), it is also a great opportunity to bring friends and introduce them to the group, especially if they are interested in a particular EV. After the initial get-together, there is often an optional drive to a local place of interest. Register for these events on our Calendar under WATTS HAPPENING.

Ride & Drives are events that contain static displays that also offer a more experiential dimension—the opportunity to take a drive with the owner, either where the owner drives the attendee or where the owner allows the attendee to drive the owner’s vehicle with the owner sitting in the front passenger seat. Ride & Drives follow generally accepted procedures like a 4-right turn pattern with no highways and following traffic laws and safety standards. Drivers’ license and insurance information is recorded before a “drive” takes place.

National Ride & Drive Events are Ride & Drives sponsored by the Electric Vehicle Association, Plugin America, and other national sponsors. Valley of the Sun EVA holds Drive Electric Earth Day (DEED) and National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) events annually. Check our Calendar and the DEED and NDEW links to see which events we are sponsoring locally this year and sign-up to attend and/or volunteer.

Partner Events are local events put on by nonprofit partners in which we participate. These are usually static displays with a limited number of vehicles.

Sponsor Events are local events put on by our paid sponsors and can be both static and/or ride & drive events.

School Events are co-sponsored events with local high schools and colleges that may also be static and/or ride & drive events.
