6000 Mile EV Road Trip - Stay 22
Sisters, Oregon | July 28 – 29, 2024

Our first stop on the road to Sisters, Oregon, was the Tesla Supercharger in Troutdale (where we left a Tesla cache) for a quickie charge-up. But it was the second stop, the Supercharger at the Hood River – Anchor Way (also left a Tesla cache there), adjacent to the Hood River Waterfront Park, that was the most enticing. The Park was full of families, windsurfers, kite boarders, stand up paddle boarders, and kayakers. It is also home to the pFriem Brewery, the Solstice Wood Fire Pizza – Cafe & Bar, the Stoked Roasters + Coffeehouse, the Hood River Distillery, and various food-trucks.
While we charged, we ordered a slice of pizza from the Solstice’s mobile wood-fired pizza oven truck at the Waterfront Cafe, and I am here to tell you it is, hands-down, the best pizza either of us have ever eaten.
This wins my award for the best summer Tesla Supercharger station location in the US of A!
After charging, we traveled South along Route 35 from Hood River towards Sisters, Oregon, with its extraordinary views of Mount Hood, to the Madras Supercharger on Route 26, and then east on Route 126 to arrive in a very smoky Sisters (from a nearby wildfire). Our gracious host at the Sisters Bed & Breakfast recommended the Sisters Saloon & Ranch Grill for dinner which we very much enjoyed.
Sisters is known for its arts community of shops, galleries, and murals, which did not disappoint. However, the wildfires in the area were growing which altered our route to the coast. As a result, we decided to cut our Sisters stay short one night to skedaddle between two fires to the coast and make it a two-day coast trip. This is an example of embracing flexibility due to unforeseen issues, something we talk about as we monitor weather conditions, road closures, and other variables. Although we hated to leave Sisters a day early, we enjoyed a nice breakfast at the B&B, packed up, and were on our way.
