City of Phoenix Employee Ride & Drive
City of Phoenix employees helped make the second annual Employee Ride and Drive on October 1, 2025 a huge success. Throughout the event, staff from across departments came out to learn more about electric vehicles, ask questions, and—most importantly—get behind the wheel. By the end of the day, volunteers had completed 58 guest drives using a diverse lineup of seven electric vehicles, offering a wide range of models and driving experiences.
Vehicles available for test drives included:
Chevrolet Equinox EV
Ford F-150 Lightning
Ford Mustang Mach-E
GMC Hummer EV
Kia EV6
Rivian R1S
Tesla Model 3
For many City employees, this was their very first time driving an EV. You could see the smiles and hear the surprised reactions as they experienced instant torque, quiet acceleration, and smooth handling for themselves. The event kept a fun, low-pressure atmosphere where questions were encouraged and curiosity was rewarded with real-world, hands-on experience.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, this second annual Ride and Drive showed growing momentum and interest in electric transportation among City of Phoenix staff. With so many first-time EV drivers in one day, the event not only delivered a fun experience—it also helped spark informed conversations about how EVs can fit into employees’ daily lives and the City’s broader sustainability goals.
