6000 Mile EV Road Trip - Stay 6
Butte, Montana • June 26-28, 2024

We left Lake Yellowstone for Mammoth Hot Springs and the Northern Entrance of Yellowstone National Park along the road north from Norris, which was quite different from other areas of the Park with enormous broad valleys and the spectacular travertine terraces of the Upper Terraces Drive.
We ate lunch at the Mammoth Springs Hotel Dining Room and after a brief stop at the Albright Visitor Center, departed the Northern Entrance for Butte, Montana, stopping to charge at the Belgrade 250 kW Supercharger.
Our home for the next two nights was Toad Hall Manor Bed & Breakfast, owned by a couple previously from Scottsdale. Oddly, every guest that arrived that day or the next either went to high school in the Phoenix area or graduated from ASU. Weirdo.
On the first night, we ate dinner at La Casa Toscana, an Italian restaurant in Butte’s historic district, whose chef/owner also owns the Bed & Breakfast where we stayed. The food was excellent at both the restaurant and the B&B.
The room was very comfortable, and we slept well with the window open in the cool night air. About 3:30 AM, a thunderstorm rolled in and rumbled for hours, washing our car in the process. We spent the rest of the day at the B&B, me working on my blog, and Suzanne working on her online teaching, with a 1-hour break to grab lunch at the Hummingbird Café in the historic district.
