EV Road Trip Day 32
Today, we visited the Drive Electric NL Resource Centre, designed to encourage more drivers in Newfoundland and Labrador to go electric. It is very well conceived, and staffed. At the Centre, we reconnected with Jon Seary, co-founder of Drive Electric NL, and met members of their staff, as well as a representative of Newfoundland Labrador Hydro, the utility responsible for placing DC Fast Chargers throughout the Province. We had a great time talking about the state of the industry, NACS adoption, and how we can collaborate across North America to boost EV adoption and tourism.
Afterwards, we drove to a nearby DC Fast Charger where we met another Newfoundland Labrador Hydro employee who was charging a Chevy Bolt EUV. As this is our last night in Newfoundland, we charged up for tomorrow’s drive to the Argentia Ferry Terminal for our 16-hour ferry back to Nova Scotia.
We returned to our hotel for dinner, at which time I drank some interesting local beers with some questionable names like Landwash Brackish Sour, QV (Quidi Vidi) Day Boil, and Banished Space Puffin.
I must say at this point that everyone we have met here lives up to the notion that Newfoundland is one of the friendliest cultures in the world.
