EV Road Trip Day 8

Drove the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park from Rockfish Gap to Thornton Gap today, a 3+ hour, 35 MPH twisty turny jaunt through lush, green, forest with plentiful-places to pull off the road and enjoy the views (Grogu was enchanted).

The weather was perfect—crisp and clear and with the windows rolled down on our whisper quiet electric drive allowed a chorus of wild birds to serenade us all the way. It was the highlight of our drive. We even rounded one curve and found an adolescent black bear waiting for us in the middle of the road. The last time I was on the Skyline was circa 1962 with my mother at the wheel. It was good to be back.

We left Tesla caches at the Madison Heights, VA, and Frederick-Buckeystown, MD, Superchargers, and a thumb of West Virginia.

We topped off the day with a wonderful visit to my cousin Ellen and her husband Rich’s place for dinner.
