EV Road Trip Day 36
(Read all the way through for a participatory mystery). We had a delightful breakfast at the Auberge Bruine Océane in Matane, chatting with two gentleman from Montrèal who were traveling in a Kia EV6. The room was nice and the shower had an beneficial set of “heads” at a lower level. Also, Grogu met a bear friend.
On our way to Québec City, we stopped to charge at two Tesla Superchargers (Rimouski and Rivière-du-Loup) and at the latter, we met a family of four driving a blue Tesla Model X.
The agricultural area of the Gaspé Peninsula south of Matane was extraordinarily beautiful with huge green pastures and fields, and coming into Québec City was also quite beautiful with historic buildings, parks, and tree-lined streets.
We arrived around 3:30p and met our daughter at the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, our home for the next four nights.
And now the mystery: “Whiskey, Maple Syrup, and Cream”
Suzanne arrived at a lounge about 8:00p, found a nice private table and ordered a glass of red wine. I arrived about 15 minutes later, sat down next to her, and waited for the server. An early 60s woman in a server uniform then came to the table and asked me what I would be drinking. I explained that I had consumed an earlier beer and that one drink is usually my limit and so I ordered an herbal tea. She pressed me and said, “Wouldn’t you rather have a cocktail? I thanked her but said, “No, I would really like to have an herbal tea.” Again, she pursued, “ I think you would really like a special drink we offer here… it is prepared with Whiskey, Maple Syrup, and Cream. Reconsider.” Again, I was polite: “No thank you, as I already explained, just herbal tea…thank you,” after which she disappeared and never returned. 40 minutes later, as no herbal tea was delivered, Suzanne found another server, who quickly satisfied my desire for an herbal tea.
Use your imagination…what was the original server’s intention here?
