EV Road Trip Day 17-20
Our 4 nights on Prince Edward Island were eventful. I picked up a painful case of an unknown infection in my left leg and after 3 sleepless nights, discovered how really lacking the PEI medical system is. With all of the talk about Canada’s socialized healthcare system, we were expecting good healthcare. Nothing could be further from the truth. The hospitals were closed, and there is a shortage of doctors. Our only choice was to go to a walk-in clinic, which is open for only 2 hours a day. We got in just before they closed sign-ins and had to wait 3 hours. It turned out to be Shingles. I actually got a Shingles vaccination over 10 years ago and was not informed that it was found to be ineffective (there is a new, more effective vax out now). I also had Chicken Pox when I was a kid. I thought I was protected. At least the antiviral and painkillers are working and the pharmacy said we could refill the prescriptions throughout our trip at other Canadian pharmacies and they would be able to send the diagosis to my doctor when we get home
Other than that, we had a great time on PEI. Check out the photos and captions. Good food and drink, kind and caring people, cool breezes and walks along the boardwalk.
We also dropped a Tesla Cache at Charlottetown.
