EV Road Trip Day 21
We began the day enjoying our final gourmet breakfast at the Charlotte Rose Inn in Prince Edward Island. We left around 9:00a and headed toward Lunenburg. It was a beautiful cloudless day. PEI is an extraordinarily beautiful green island and as we crossed the Confedration bridge on the way to PEI in the dark several days ago, we missed out on that beauty, so as we crossed it today, it gave us better prospective. By 11:00a, it was 80° outside and very humid.
Grogu was vey helpful on the road. He changed his position to sitting on the dashboard and used the force to protect us from aggressive drivers.
We stopped at the Enfield (Halifax) Supercharger and bought 2 Impossible (vegan) Whoppers from Burger King…excellent. Even chatted with a couple of Hertz Drivers about their Model 3s.
Throughout the trip, many folks have asked to see/talk about the Tesla Model X, most are attracted by the Falcon wing doors.
Driving through Halifax, we could see the damage of the devastation caused by fire.
We arrived at our home-tel in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, around 3:00p
“Old Town Lunenburg is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of just two urban communities in North America with that designation. Considered to be the best surviving planned British colonial town in North America, you can still see the tall ships moored off the port and hear the smith’s hammer, while guided tours tell tales of lives lost on the ocean, and the spirits that return to haunt the living.
Lunenburg’s harbour-side streets are lined with unique shops and award-winning restaurants that blend with the well-preserved and colourfully painted historic homes, much of it like a living museum from the 18th century. There is much to do in the area including walking tours (including a nighttime ghost walk), a fisheries museum, distillery tours, sailboat tour, whale-watching tours, etc. and simply relaxing to the sounds of the water.”
Tonight we had a nice walk on Montague Street, where all the lamps had fish metalwork signs, and there were some amazing historic buildings. We had delicious Detroit-style deep dish pizza at a brewery with buffalo cauliflower, fried pickles, and flight of kolsch, 2 ales, a bitter, an IPA, and 2 hard ciders and then walked down to the waterfront area. The sun set at 9:00a and stayed light until 9:45.
We are staying three nights at Ivy House Inn, a boutique home-tel near Old Town. It is beautiful with its fresh and simple Scandinavian-influenced design.
